The Marsai Alert (Making an Alliance for a Responsible Society to Act and Intervene) is a nonprofit organization that will provide a mechanism for students and community members to report threats of violence before they become acts of violence.  The Marsai Alert will educate the public about the community and family devastation caused by random crime and violence, and about how random violence diminishes the quality of life for everyone.

17 year old high school senior, Marsai Murry, was a youth who had a lot going for her. She was a good student, a leader in her church, a friend to many, and a trusted advisor to other students.  At this time, Marsai Murry should have been going to college.  Instead, Marsai Murry's life was cut short far too soon!

Marsai Murry was the victim of an act of senseless, random violence on November 8, 2003.  She was the unintended victim of a young man who thought a gun was the way to settle an argument with another young man.  Unintended or not, Marsai LOST her life, and we have to understand that she was not "in the wrong place at the wrong time."  Her Killer Was!  He shot into a crowd of people with no regard to who his bullets might strike!  The killer's victim could have just as well been your mother, your farther, your sister, your brother, your friend or YOU!

You see random violence is random because it can strike anyone, anywhere at anytime.  Random violence respects no race, age or gender.

Random violence is a threat to everyone.
